We started to dive more into some initiatives in order to find what is best for us
Initiatives
Neverland Cinema
an independent not for profit organisation, local cinema in Rotterdam
(not active anymore so we couldn’t contact them)
Rotterdamse Munt
the city herb garden where everything revolves around natural growth and connecting with the nature
(we were more interested in cultural events)

the adjoining indoor spaces of culture center WORM can be visited for a psychedelic indoor exhibition with groundbreaking works of art by well-known names and up and coming talents
the ultimate testing ground for alternative art production
(it's a big initiative so we decided to focus on one smaller initiative which they support)
TEC ART
How to bring the art and technology together
How to promote + our initiative
How to create the brand image
How to organise festivals
what is the structure of the festival
How to combine music with the performance
How to get sponsors/money for organising events
Questions we want to ask:
Email:
Why do we like their initiative
What could we add and how could we help
What would we want to learn from them
23.02.2023
What was the initial idea behind this initiative?
How did you find the artists?
How did you come up with the concept?
How did you contact with bigger organisations and how did you convinced them to work with you?
How was the process of creating brand image/identity?
What is the process behind organising the festival?
Do you work the whole year to create the festival?
What are your core values and goals?
How did you decide on the choice of music?
How to combine music with performances?
How to get sponsors/money for events like yours?
We met to elaborate the questions and to compose an email that we would later send
Questions:
Ideas for an interview:
-footage of person answering our questions

We presented our progress so far and found out that Tec Art is actually a part of another bigger initiative that creates festivals in The Netherlands, PlanetArt
06.03.2023
Hello Tec Art,We are an interdisciplinary collective from WDKA and we are looking for initiative that is working, hosting events to combine music and art and have created a community. We discovered your Organization and we share the same values and interests; sustainability, sense of community, relationship between art and technology. We like your perspective on art. If possible we would love to learn and have a conversation with you all about your point of view and your work ethic. Also we want to propose that you do a guest lecture on our school at Willem de Kooning college, give you a school tour and maybe provide new artist/creatives to you if that is something that you would be interested in in return for giving us your time. So we offer you guys a new young fresh creative intrigued students from WDKA that might be potentially new scouts for your organization. We would like to meet as soon as possible as this is part of a class and we have a short time frame. We would love to meet in person but if this is not a possibility we are also available for an online meeting,We would love to hear back from you.
Kind regards,
We drafted multiple emails for Tec Art and improved them
Hello Planet Art,
We are a interdisciplinary group of students from Willem De Kooning academy working on a self directed project as part of a class about how to work together. Working together to create a tool for collaboration.
We are drawn to your collective because we are interested in contemporary culture, sustainability and community building. We saw with Tec Art Rotterdam how you brought so many people together in an Experimental and playful manner and want to learn from you. If possible we would love to have a conversation with you about your work ethic and methodology’s. We believe in the importance of reciprocity and would like to share our findings with you later on once we have our outcome.
We hope to meet with you in the next 3 weeks, either online or in person. We are very excited about this opportunity and look forward to hearing back from you!
Kind regards,
The final email that we actually sent:
Hello Planet Art,
We are a small interdisciplinary group of students from Willem De Kooning academy working on a self-directed project as part of a class focused on creating tools for collaborations.
We are drawn to your collective because we share the same interests in contemporary culture, sustainability and community building. We saw with the most recent edition of Tec Art Rotterdam how you brought so many people together in an experimental and playful manner and want to learn more about your process and approach. If possible, we would love to have a conversation with you about your work ethic and the methods you use. We believe in the importance of reciprocity and would like to share our findings with you later on once we have a definite outcome.
We hope to meet with you in the next 2 weeks, either online or in person. We are very excited about this opportunity and look forward to hearing back from you!

Today we answered some questions that helped us understand better what we want to do
We also found the instagram accounts of some people that work for Tec Art and decided to also dm them
13.03.2023
We started researching other initiatives because we didn’t receive a response and questioned again what we wanted to do
We also developed a new set of questions
How to promote + our initiative?
How to create the brand image?
How to organise festivals/ parties?
what is the structure of the festival/ parties?
How to combine music with the performance?
How to get sponsors/fundings for organising events?
How to create a safe space?
How do you collaborate with other initiatives ?
How do you reach the right audience?
How to mention/improve the event?
How do you as a feminist collective promote feminism without being misandristic?
How do you maintain safety while hosting an event at the same time?
Where to go if you feel or felt unsafe?
How do you know the needs of the people that want to come?
If the staff has training?
How do you arrange the space in order to make it comfortable for everyone?
What happens if there would be an accident?
How to get people to get out their comfort zone?
15.03.2023
Both initiatives that we found that organise parties for women agreed to be interviewed
We came up with he format of the publication: a zine using a french folding so the text could be also placed on a table, used like a small book or if you flip it around you can place a poster on the wall
We revised the questions for the interviews
We also tried to create already with a front cover
The names of the initiatives are:
Burenhinder;
Bad Gyals Club
16.03.2023
We had both interviews
How to promote your collective?
-instagram
-Facebook
-mouth to mouth advertising
How to create a brand image?
-making a consensus and acting upon it
-creating values and reassessing them, It also flows naturally.
How to organise a party or festival?
1 location
2 concept/theme
3 Sound system, bar, insurance
4 find volunteers and providing safer space
5 ticketing
How to combine music with the performance?
-the music is the image so it automatically fits with us.
-playing with the contrast of hard music and soft exterior because we are a female collective .
How to get fundings for a party?
-they had the privilege of being hosted by the venue every time they did a party. -they rent a club with the profit of the previous party.
How to create a safe space?
-a good briefing with the volunteers about the party, they are the communicators towards the audience. It starts at the door with informing and also before using social media. We have also written a manifesto so we tell our volunteers to follow it.
How do you collaborate with other collectives?
-we often have collectives reaching out to us but there are a few collectives we would like to join.
-we love to get to know the people of the collective first and then collaborate with them naturally.
How do you reach the right audience?
-you start with your friend group and you trust the word of mouth, don’t do it commercially and keep it local. Framework
How to improve the event?
- we try to talk about every event and then improve event after event,
- We ask for feedback on instagram and try to improve on that
How do you promote a feminist collective without being against man
By not trying to force an ideology on men and trying to give them rational information about why we do this and try to make a dialogue, we want to bring a change within the gender dynamic in nightlife that’s all.
How do you maintain safety while hosting an event? -via safe pace crew/ guardian angels
-There is a WhatsApp group for complaints
-Open communication
Where do you go if you feel or felt unsafe?
-safe pace crew/ angels
How do you know the needs of people who want to come?
-we already have a loyal partygoer base and they know what to expect and they are like minded people. That’s why we rely on word of mouth to promote our party.
Does the staff have training?
-yes based on our manifest
How do you arrange the space to make it comfortable for everyone
-we just have a space for people to trip out and we make it cozy and safe for everyone apart from that. It's also about bringing like minded people together and that by itself makes it cozy.
What would happen if there was an accident?
-Make the victim feel safe and talk to them and we find a proper solution and if it its an harasser we throw them out. But we also always talk to the person in fault and explain to them why that is wrong.
How do you get people to go out of my comfort zone?
-they can stay in their comfort zone!!
Burenhinder -Arianna
- How to promote + our initiative?
Through social media, flyers
- How to create the brand image?
Mouth-to-mouth promotion, I’ve been 10 years in the game and there was no one out there that created a space for females like that so I started one on my own.
- How to organize festivals/ parties?
To hire people who are specialized to keep areas safe, and build a safe space zone for people to unwind.
- How to get sponsors/funding for organizing events?
Mailing!!!!! For ex. Havana club and we do a shoot or concept is good so it works.
- How to create a safe space?
Reaching out to the right audience has a lot to do with marketing. For example, if you post half-naked dancing girls guys would come to that instead of posting queer people.
- How do you reach the right audience?
Again about marketing, advertising, mouth to mouth (digital) ambassadors.
- How to mention/improve the event?
Through tickets sale like best friend sales, social media flyers, etc.
- How do you as a feminist collective promotes feminism without being misandristic?
Our whole concept is based on giving females a platform for ex. Giving a female DJ the prime time and end slot of the night. We prefer a female mc and dj it’s not like we don’t want to give a platform to man we would but our preference goes to women For ex prettygirlsliketrapmusic only give an audience to the woman and no men are allowed.
- How do you maintain safety while hosting an event at the same time?
It goes hand in hand with the music if you play the music that girls like and are not too masculine you create a space where females feel safe and let loose because there is a big difference between what females listen to and males. Lights play also an important role in the dark bringing people (most often male) into a mood where they can do things without going unnoticed.
- Where to go if you feel or felt unsafe?
Register, bar, security, and people of the organization.
- How do you know the needs of the people that want to come?
Research, working out a concept that people love, being active on social media, and taking summaries from your followers.
- If the staff has training?
Yes, we hire specialized people that know what to do in situations and how to handle them.
- How do you arrange the space to make it comfortable for everyone?
Through light and music because we don’t have the budget or space to create a separate room for it.
- What happens if there would be an accident?
We hold meetings about it, we speak to the club owners and security. we make a statement on social media that we don’t tolerate this behavior and apologize.
- How to get people to get out of their comfort zone?
Right MC, good music, and the audience itself.
- Did you guys ever have a bad experience where you needed to step in to fix things?
Never and we hope to keep it that way and we are very proud.

We created a prototype and made some categories based on the interviews
We are a small interdisciplinary group of students from WDKA working on a self directed project as part of a class focused on creating tools for collaboration.
The tool that we wanted to develop is PARTYING TO CREATE COMMUNITY in a way that we can create a safe space; bring awareness to serious topics while having fun and expanding a community it beyond the event.
We have created a zine as a universal guide for initiatives who are interested in hosting a party that will create community while taking safety into consideration.
To create this guide we have talked to a few initiatives with these values who are already practicing this tool and we have also done some of our own research.
On this web page you can follow our process to see how our zine came to life
Hello!
